Fetch or Download iPad Baseband 6.15.00 without Internet Connection (Local Computer)

Using the iPad baseband is not the best solution to unlock iPhone 3G/3GS but if you decide to go ahead after understanding the risks, you can download it without the need of having an internet connection (although you still need to download the iPad 3.2.2 firmware). This will also help if you are stuck on the Fetching iPad baseband screen for too long. Don’t like this unlocking method? Consider this.

Using this method, redsn0w will only take about 5 seconds to download it instead of the usual 3-4 minutes. If you have a slow internet connection, it will take even longer. Note: The instructions below is for PC. I’ll post a Mac version soon.

Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 Fixes Error 2601 & 14 During Custom iOS 6 Restore

The latest redsn0w was just released by MuscleNerd et al and promised to fix error 2601 for Windows users when attempting to restore their iPhone.

About 2 weeks ago I posted a tutorial on how to Build Custom iOS 6 IPSW to Preserve iPhone 4 or 3GS Baseband with Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 but unfortunately many Windows users have had the issue of getting iTunes error 2601 during restore.

Do NOT Install iPad Baseband 6.15.00 on iPhone 3GS with Numonyx 36MY1EH or 36MY1EF Chip

Do NOT Install iPad Baseband 6.15.00 on iPhone 3GS with Numonyx 36MY1EH or 36MY1EF Chip
Do you have a new iPhone 3GS that you wish to unlock with iPad baseband 6.15.00? Before you do it, please read these important notes first or else you will brick it forever!

Most of you would have known it by now that Apple updated the chip on all iPhone 3GS made after week 28 of year 2011. The new NOR chip which is mass produced by Intel/Numonyx has the model number of either 36MY1EH or 36MY1EF. They are not compatible with iPad baseband 6.15.00. It’s exactly the same type of chip used on iPhone 4.

Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 On Pre-A5 iPhone And iPod touch Using Redsn0w

Whenever a new version of iOS is released to the public (or indeed, simply to developers), the attentions of many quickly turn to the possibility of a jailbreak. Offering a freedom impossible at stock level on an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, jailbroken devices offer the iOS experience without limitation, and it’s thanks to utilities like the iPhone Dev-Team’s Redsn0w that jailbreaks can be achieved.

We have tested and can confirm that Redsn0w can be used to jailbreak the just released iOS 6.0.1, and we’ve got the guide below detailing how to do so. Unfortunately, this jailbreak is limited only to those devices that are susceptible to the Limera1n exploit (A4 or lower), and so those rocking a new iPad or iPod touch, and iPhone 5 will have to sit tight for a while yet.

iStat 2 Lets You Remotely Monitor Your PC Or Mac From Anywhere Using iPhone

We’re all fans of statistics here at Redmond Pie. We suspect most of you are, too, which is why iStat 2 for iOS is something you’ll be wanting to try out sooner rather than later.
Put together by Bjango and priced at $4.99 on the App Store, iStat 2 is an updated version of the popular computer monitoring tool going by the name of iStat. Be it monitoring stats of a computer or of the iOS device on which it runs, iStat 2 is every bit the geek tool, making sure that no self respecting fan of numbers will feel like they’re missing out on anything to do with their machine.
Once a server application has been installed on a computer, be that running Windows, OS X or Linux, iStat can hook into that computer and read whatever statistics have been collated. That means that you will have a wealth of information at your fingertips, without ever needed to set foot in front of you machine again. This is perfect if you have a home server running in the basement, for example and a real life saver if that machine happens to be headless.

The number of statistics reported are quite mind boggling. Anyone wanting to know things like memory usage, temperature and disk usage will be happy to know such stats are evident. Networks usage and load average are also present, along with a raft of other stats. There’s plenty to be going at, and we doubt very much that you’ll find yourself wishing for anything with iStat 2. Everything seems to be covered, and covered well.

Monitoring of iOS devices is obviously a little less useful than monitoring of a server, but it’s still interesting nevertheless. There are no temperature stats here unfortunately, with fan speeds missing for obvious reasons also. Still, there is plenty to get your teeth into here too, even if it feels a side-feature to the main event.
iStat 2 is available for download now from the App Store, and will no doubt appeal to casual users interested in keeping tabs on their machines just as much as it will appeal to those with more in-depth knowledge. For less than five dollars, it’s well worth the money either way.

Ultrasn0w Fixer Released to Unlock iPhone 4, 3GS on iOS 5.1

The iPhone Dev team has released Ultrasn0w Fixer, a new update that will allow unlockers to use iOS 5.1. If you were one of the unlucky users who had an unlocked iPhone but upgraded your iPhone to the new iOS 5.1, you are in luck.

There is a new fix that will allow users to keep their unlock while running on iOS 5.1. Ultrasn0w fixer only works for the following basebands:
  •  01.59.00
  • 04.26.08
  • 05.11.07
  • 05.13.01
  • 05.12.01
  • 06.15.00
If your baseband is not one of these mentioned above, then tough luck, Ultrasn0w Fixer will not help you. If your baseband is included on the list above then read on.
Steps to Unlock iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS Using Ultrasn0w Fixer
The unlock using Ultrasn0w is pretty much straightforward if you have already unlocked your iPhone before and know the basics. You will need to download Ultrasn0w Fixer from the following repo in Cydia (add this source):
http://repo.iparelhos.com
If you want a more in depth guide on how to install ultrasn0w Fixer, read on for a step by step guide.
Pre-Requisites Before Starting:
Your iPhone needs to be jailbroken. This can be done through Redsn0w if it isn’t already done. If you need to know how to jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w, please visit our tutorial on how to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 5.1 using Redsn0w.
You also need to have your baseband preserved. This means that if you have upgraded without creating a custom ISPW, you are out of luck. In order for Ultrasn0w Fixer to work, you need to have one of the basebands mentioned above. If this is confusing to you and you need to know how to check your baseband, please visit our page about iPhone basebands.

1. Open Cydia and go to Sources
2. Add the source: http://repo.iparelhos.com
3. After adding the source go to search and search for “Ultrasn0w Fixer”
4. Install Ultrasn0w Fixer
5. After you install Ultrasn0w Fixer, go back into the search and install “Ultrasn0w”
6. That’s it! Ultrasn0w Fixer is installed and Ultrasn0w should be working normally on your iPhone running iOS 5.1
